2 — How to write one
Five rules for an automation JD that real engineers answer
- Say “industrial” in the first line. “Automation engineer” alone pulls software test-automation and RPA CVs in India.
- Name one platform family. Vendor ecosystems are not interchangeable — Studio 5000 is Rockwell, TIA Portal is Siemens. Accept a second family as a plus.
- Say where the days are spent. Programming desk, SCADA, site commissioning or integration lead are different people with the same title.
- Keep safety separate. SIS and fail-safe work are their own competency, with their own proof.
- Publish the band and the travel. Both are the most common reasons an offer fails late.
